Too Much Magic
I had a soccer coach that would say "too much magic" whenever a player tried to do something fancy instead of sticking to the basics.
Said differently, "you are doing something that is too complex for the situation, meaning it carries extra risk and overhead, and is not worth the cost".
This has heavy overlap with:
- KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid) [1]
- Make it as simple as possible but not simpler [2]
- Inherent vs incidental complexity [3]
