Bayesian Reasoning
Bayesian reasoning is a way of updating your beliefs based on new evidence [1].
You start with a prior belief about something. When you get new evidence, you update your belief to form a new belief.
This requires that you are never 100% certain about anything, as new evidence can always come along to change your mind.
NOTE
I've tried to get into the habit of using phrases like "I think" or "I believe" when stating my opinions to emphasize that I'm open to new information.
With this formula, you can check your assumptions by creating tests or experiments that result in new information that may either support or challenge your beliefs.
