Home Assistant

Home Assistant is a server that allows you to control and automate smart home devices.

Additionally, it can act as a bridge to allow Apple devices to control unsupported/non-HomeKit devices.

NOTE

I run Home Assistant in a Docker container on a Raspberry Pi.

I use SwitchBot blinds and curtains to open them in the morning and close them at night [1].

I use Blink cameras [2].

I use smart lights and plugs to control lamps and seasonal decorative lighting.

I use a Honeywell smart thermostat, which can be nice to control from your phone when across the house or away from home.

I use an LG smart washer and dryer, which can send notifications when cycles are complete.
